Sandy Canavan appears primarily but not exlusively for the Prosecution in the Crown and Appellate Courts throughout London, more often as Leading Counsel.
Sandy has extensive experience in all aspects of criminal work, particularly offences including murder & attempted murder, all forms of sexual offending, with emphasis on cases that involve historic allegations, large scale importation & supply of drugs, all forms of firearms offending, large scale public disorder offences and cases of fraud. Sandy has prosecuted and defended substantial muliti-handed conspiracies with a particular emphasis on cases with international links.
Additionally Sandy has a welath of experience of cases involving vulnerable witnesses and defendants with special needs and has regularly provided training to Child Protection Teams. Sandy was appointed a Recorder of the Crown Court in November 2009.
