R v. Beard and Herbert [2006] - C.C.C.

This case involved the biggest gun manufacturers ever arrested at the time, who were claimed to have been producing almost one converted firearm a day. The guns turned up all over the country. At the A.G.'s Reference hearing the Crown claimed that the national statistics on gun crime had been reduced as a result of the arrests of these defendants and the discovery of their factory and techniques. The case required an extensive knowledge of the functioning of different types of firearm and the techniques involved in their conversion.
