Following a 3-day trial at Woolwich Crown Court, the jury acquitted the defendant of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and the lesser alternative s.20 offence. Having been addressed on the CCTV and audio footage of the defendant stabbing the complainant on two occasions and on expert evidence concerning the level of force necessary to inflict injuries, the jury accepted the defendant had been acting in self-defence.
