Sam Willis prosecuted two defendants involved in a for-profit scheme helping asylum seekers enter the UK using false identity documents. During 2019 and 2020, the defendants and other members of the OCG would fly out to a European city, meet an asylum seeker not entitled to enter the UK, provide that person with a false passport, and then escort them on a flight back to the UK – all for money paid by the asylum seeker.

The 10-day trial at Chelmsford involved the presentation of flight records, a voluminous schedule of WhatsApp text and voice messages, cell site analysis and mapping, and CCTV.

Both defendants were sentenced today at Chelmsford Crown Court.
