We are delighted to announce that Louise Oakley has been recommended for appointment as King’s Counsel (KC). The Lord Chancellor will formally bestow the title of KC upon Louise at the Silks’ appointment ceremony at Westminster Hall on 23th March 2026.
This year, King Charles III has approved the appointment of 96 barristers as King’s Counsel in England and Wales. The title of KC is awarded to those who have demonstrated overall excellence in advocacy in the higher courts.
Sarah Forshaw KC and Mark Heywood KC, Joint Heads of Chambers at 5KBW, said:
“It is with absolute delight that we announce the recommendation of our very own Louise Oakley for appointment as King’s Counsel. Since Louise joined 5 King’s Bench Walk, she has gone from strength to strength. In 2024, she was appointed Senior Treasury Counsel, and, at the end of that year, she was awarded ‘Crime Junior of the Year 2024’ by Chambers UK. This is the icing on the cake. Lou’s complete command of her brief, her impeccable judgement, her no-nonsense style of advocacy and her intuitive ability to spot what others miss, all mark her out as a truly excellent advocate. We warmly congratulate Louise on what will be a hugely popular and well-deserved appointment.”
Congratulations to Louise and all those who were successful.
