Arising out of a Metropolitan Police Flying Squad investigation, Rupert Kent prosecuted 10 defendants who took part in a series of professionally planned robberies of mobile phone stores throughout the Greater London area in the summer of 2025. Organised by the first defendant and ringleader, and driven to the various locations by older males, groups of masked youths were used to intimidate staff into providing access to secure back-office storerooms, from where tens of thousands of pounds of merchandise would then be taken. The conspiracy was disrupted after seven such incidents, and after the police conducted surveillance to catch the final robbery team in the act. After six defendants pleaded guilty at earlier hearings, the remaining four defendants were convicted after trial. Sentencing is fixed for the summer of 2026.
