Rupert Kent was instructed by the CPS Counter Terrorism Division as a led junior in the prosecution of two men who, at the conclusion of a three-week trial, were each convicted of wounding with intent. The case arose from a Counter Terrorism Policing London investigation into the stabbing of a journalist known for being critical of the Iranian regime. Over the period of a year, a number of those involved in the preparation of this targeted attack visited the area of the victim’s address on numerous occasions, before carrying out the attack in May 2024 as the victim walked to his car.
Sentence will be heard on 3rd July 2026, before Cheema-Grubb J at the Central Criminal Court, when the prosecution will argue that the foreign power condition, pursuant to s69A of the Sentencing Act 2020 and s31 of the National Security Act 2023, applies in this case.
