A highly respected community pharmacist was acquitted of murdering his father by feeding him a smoothie laced with morphine he had stolen from the pharmacy at which he worked. This was a highly emotive case of assisted suicide. The father had been very depressed, was ageing, in discomfort and needing more and more assistance, he had suffered the death of his wife and his dog, and he no longer wanted to live. He had repeatedly and persistently begged his son to help him end his life
