Charlotte Newell QC defended a young woman with significant physical disabilities, wheelchair bound and non-verbal accused of facilitating the rape of a child by her boyfriend. Charlotte together with Talitha Gilpin of Birds solicitors prepared sought targeted expert reports as to the Defendant’s susceptibility to abuse establishing that she too was a victim of coercion and abuse. Following comprehensive representations the Crown offered no evidence.
