Following a two-week trial at St Albans Crown Court, it took the jury under an hour to acquit the defendant on an indictment alleging an 8-year campaign of rape, violence and coercive and controlling behaviour against his long-term partner. The case was made more difficult by the numerous covert recordings made by the complainant, which were said by the Crown to support the allegations.
