The final four defendants of eight in total were convicted this week at the end of a ten-week trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court. Prosecuted by Dickon Reid and Sam Willis, the case focused on the supply of kilo blocks of Class A drugs to dealers in Greater London and Birmingham for onward supply. In total, around 80kg of cocaine and heroin was trafficked around the country.
The trial of the final four defendants involved the presentation of observation evidence from surveillance officers, CCTV, cell site analysis, drug expert evidence, and extracts from phone downloads. The jury considered and ultimately rejected defences of modern slavery from two of the defendants, and found that the other two defendants were members of the conspiracy as alleged. The other four defendants had entered guilty pleas at an earlier stage in the proceedings.
Dickon Reid and Sam Willis were instructed by Jessica Williams of the CPS London North-East Crown Court Unit.
