William Sneddon was instructed to represent an individual accused of Attempted rape, Assualt by penetration, and Sexual assault. The individual was accused of meeting the female complainant for the first time at a gathering and engaging in non-consensual sexual activity after inviting her downstairs for a private chat. The police were called to the scene after the individual ran into a restaurant being chased by two males that were also present at the gathering. The Defendant accepted in a prepared statement that he had engaged in sexual activity with the complainant but asserted that this was with the complainant’s consent.
Following a 4-day trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court, the individual was unanimously acquitted of all three offences.
