Frederick Hookway and Sam Willis prosecuted three defendants for planning and carrying out the shooting of a male in Leytonstone, London, on 3 December 2024. Shortly before 23:00, two men armed with a handgun and a knife got out of their vehicle and attacked the victim, firing at him twice.
The prosecution case involved extensive CCTV, ANPR, and cell-site evidence detailing the movements of the defendants and vehicles before and after the shooting. The planning had involved acquiring two stolen vehicles, equipping them with cloned registration plates, and then storing one of them to be used as a getaway vehicle. The other vehicle was then used to carry out the attack, before it was set on fire – with the defendants swapping to the getaway vehicle.
This week, the jury returned unanimous guilty verdicts against all three defendants for conspiring to cause GBH. Two of the defendants were also convicted of possessing the firearm and the ammunition with the intention to endanger life.
Frederick and Sam were instructed by CPS London North.
