Harry specialises in criminal cases and has a rapidly developing reputation as a compelling and highly effective advocate.
Harry is a recognised expert on sentencing law. He is the author of Banks on Sentence, the leading practitioner text on the subject and was the consultant editor for the latest sentencing and offender management volumes of Halsbury’s Laws of England.
He accepts instructions as both prosecution and defence counsel in the full range of criminal cases. This breadth of practice gives him valuable strategic insight in any given case. He is regularly instructed to appear in the Crown Court in London and the South-East and is appointed to the CPS Advocate Panel at grade 3.
In addition to criminal cases, Harry accepts instructions to provide advice and representation before the Parole Board in matters of prison law and is often instructed to represent offenders and to appear on behalf of the Secretary of State. His experience also extends to representing parties in regulatory appeals to the magistrates’ court and military law matters before the Court Martial. Harry also has experience in private prosecutions.
Before coming to the Bar, Harry worked at the Law Commission of England and Wales on the project which produced the Sentencing Act 2020.
