Bartholomew represented a man of previous good character accused of nine counts including multiple rapes and other serious sexual offences by his niece when she was 8-12 and he was 32-36. Following a two-week trial at Woolwich Crown Court, the defendant was found not guilty by unanimous verdicts after the jury had been in retirement for eight hours.
